OF THE 5 VOLUME OF SET: "SELECTED WORKS OF MAO ZEDONG" . . * This color printed poster advertises the long awaited volume 5 of the 5 volume set of "SELECTED WORKS OF MAO ZEDONG." WARMLY CHEER THE PUBLICATION OF THE 5TH VOLUME OF MAO ZEDONG'S "SELECTED WORKS." . In the center is a worker holding up volume 5 with red-printed ink title page. The top red headliner says Di Wu Juan Qu Ban [Now Published] volume 5 of Mao's "SELECTED WORKS." . *** IMPRINT: The original painter and artist was XIE Senzuo. His name is cited at the lower right corner is the publication, along with other publisher's information. . The poster was published by Guangxi Renmin Chuban She [Guangxi People's Publishing House & sold by Guangxi Xinhua Bookstore. We assume this was published in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi province. . *** VOLUME 5 OF THE "SELECTED WORKS OF MAO ZEDONG": The fifth volume of the Selected Works included 70 articles by Mao Zedong after the founding of the People's Republic of China. . This fifth book was planned as early as 1960, to include selected writings from the PRC period, but Chairman Mao resisted its production as he felt his essays and speeches on Socialist Construction (1949-1957) were still evolving compared to the views contained in the earlier volumes. . It was formally published and distributed by People's Publishing House on April 15, 1977, with a price of 1.25 yuan. The compilation and editing of this volume took ten years due to the Cultural Revolution and Mao Zedong's continued opposition to the publication of a fifth volume of his works. . Hua Guofeng insisted on the publication of the fifth volume of the "SELECTED WORKS OF MAO ZEDONG," which was finally published about 7 months after Mao's September 9, 1976 death. . *** Color photos are posted to our website. . *** CONDITION: This is the original FIRST EDITION of the poster. The poster was folded and re-folded horizontally and one vertical fold. .
