36" x 24" poster in which is 22" x 13" actual color reproduction of the stamp with facsimile Monroe signature. Pinkish background. Printed in large letters near bottom of poster: "Hold on to the Legend". Nearer the bottom in smaller letters is printed: "United States Postal Service. Stamps Worth Saving". Several thumb tack holes on each corner, and hardly detectable folds, o/w in very good and clean condition. Together with: First Day Of Issue Card - 9" x 6" on card stock, with large printed "Marilyn" with 4-1/4" x 3" pink reproduction of Marilyn's lip imprint, stamped black round postmark: Universal City, CA 91608, June 1 1995" and rectangular "First Day of Issue at Universal Studios Hollywood", incorporating Studio logo. Actual Marilyn Monroe 32-cent commemorative stamp pasted on card with last two letters "ue" of "issue" stamped on bottom left corner of stamp. Printed on left side of card is "Marilyn Monroe, who captivated the American public with her beauty, was also recoginzed (sic) by film buffs as an actress of quick wit and legendary dramatic talent. The former Norma Jeane Mortenson is an American icon who enjoyed an illustrious film career, and managed sardonic pageantry with grace and humor. As the first installment in a series honoring the 'Legends of Hollywood', the U.S. Postal Service pays tribute to Marilyn Monroe by issuing this commemorative stamp, designed by Michael Deas of New Orleans, Louisiana."
