Beautifully designed and executed unusual Christmas book. Delicate line drawings with one subtle color show Mary in the nude. It begins with mary being married off at a very tender age, then sold she rose to be the conxubine of King Herod. Pregnant and banned she wondered the land of the Jews where by accident she came across Joseph. Joseph took her in and together they moved on to Nazareth where Mary gives birth to Jesus. 12 printed pages on heavy stock, the versos of the covers show fine drawings of pine twigs in repeat like textile design. (Thanks is given among others to "William Morris") marked in pencil "AP" (artist Proof), the initials R. M. F. (Fasanella?) and '98. Mat black boards, brown leather spine, paste down title white paper. Very unusual, creative, artistic book. The book is near fine, looks handmade, sewn. Bookseller Inventory # 002260
