With kind regards Laura Coates Reed, John Lindley Coates Arthur Chandler Coates March 1899" Good. Several newspaper clippings lightly pasted in. Illustrated with many photographs. Mrs. Coates and her husband, Kersey Coates were among the founders of Kansas City, Mo. and benefactors. They took part in the events of the Border Warfare in Kansas. Mrs. Coates tells of their experiences during the troubles of Kansas. She also includes experiences in the early history of Kansas City, Missouri, her work in the sufferage movement other social societies, as well as events in the Civil War in Kansas City.
