About this Item

Froidmont's (1587-1653) text first appeared in 1627. It is a study of meteors and comets, winds, seas, earthquakes, etc., and went through numerous editions in the 17th century. The second part is an essay on comets written with his collaborator Thomas Feyens (or Fienus); the third part is a curious text on the mysterious "purple rain" that fell on Brussels, October 6, 1646. Wing F2236. Thorndike, HISTORY OF MAGIC & EXPERIMENTAL SCIENCE Vol. VII, p. 53-54. 8vo. 3 parts in 1, each with its own title page. (8),460,(4);(6),62,(2);(4),42pp. Bound in modern green morocco spine over marbled boards. The first three and last two leaves browned along the margins; title neatly reinforced at margins, otherwise a very good, clean copy. Bookseller Inventory # 881
