Original gray slipcase rubbed with foxing spots; shelf rubbing to bottom panel, mild scuffing at corners but seams are firm. Each hardcover, H 24.25cm x L 16cm, uniformly bound in muted blue cloth with vibrant red and gilt stamping to spines and blue top edges; each volume's dust jacket lightly rubbed with some nicks and slight scuffing wear at edges as well as usual mild color fading to red subtitle lettering at centers of spine panels; Vol. I dj has negligibly short tear at front panel's top right corner with tape repair to verso; Vol. II dj has light crease at front panel's lower right. Special Acknowledgement by MDAH Director Charlotte Capers present in each volume. Interior pages of both volumes are bright and clean; bindings retain some crispness. VOLUME I - AS THEY SAW IT edited by Mississippi State University historian and administrator John K. Bettersworth: xxxii, 362 pages; page ix-xii creased at bottom corners; Editor's Acknowledgement; b/w illustrations on unpaged leaves; a very good+ copy in a very good dust jacket.
