Book Description Dudley Leavitt Pickman, Boston, MA, 1933. Original Cloth. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Limited. Travel the 'ancient world' of the 1880s with Dudley Leavitt Pickman! One of 500 Limited Edition copies, and signed "With compliments of Dudley Leavitt Pickman", this compact (5"w x 7"h; 94 pp) tome is packed with tales of Pickman's mountain climbing and hiking experiences and visits to foreign countries. Let Pickman regale you with colorful stories. "[I]t is necessary to cross flat on your stomach, gently propelling yourself along with hands and feet helped by a steady pull on the rope by the guide who has already gone across. The sensation of being suspended over a probable chasm with an unreliable prop of snow under you is far from agreeable." (Die Jungefrau; Germany) . And with 38 crisp b&w photo "illustrations" of mountains and ranges around the world. Armchair-travelers will also enjoy additional pictures of the Taj Mahal (India), a Japanese tea garden, volcanoes, and corresponding arrays of anecdotes.
