Vintage original 11 x 14" (28 x 35 cm.) title lobby card, USA. Garry Marsh, Jon Pertwee, Jack Livesey, Eliot Makeham, Jimmy Edwards, Diana Decker, dir: Val Guest; Monogram. A fascinating view into the very real world of the Windmill, the British Burlesque house located near Piccadilly circus in the Soho district of London. The theatre was the birthplace of many British entertainers and comedians. The premise of the film is that a man is murdered in the theatre during a performance and, therefore, all the performers must do their act in front of the police so as they can solve the shooting. The real entertainers of the time were featured doing their act. The acts consisted of burlesque style dances (with very little revealing of flesh as laws of the time forbade "moving" nudes in stage performance), and comedian performers. The film is an interesting look into post-war England. This card is for the American theatrical release of 1950 through Monogram Pictures. FINE. Bookseller Inventory #
