Synopsis: MAKARS' DOZENS features new collections by three Southern California poets: the preeminent scholar, poet, and critic, Robert Peters; the quirky, idiosyncratic word-master, Paul Trachtenberg; and the lyrical, free-spirited iconoclast, Barbara Hauk. With visceral strength and energy, tempered by humor and whimsy, these three distinctive voices touch on subjects that range from experiences gleaned from childhood and youth, to reflections on maturity, relationships, aging, and death.

About the Author: Robert Peters has published over 30 books of poetry and has written critiques of over 400 contemporary American poets in his controversial books of criticism. He is now retired from three decades of teaching at University of California campuses, most recently UC Irvine, and enjoys a productive, vigorous life with his partner Paul Trachtenberg in Huntington Beach, California. Paul Trachtenberg has previously published three volumes of poetry, SHORT CHANGES FOR LORETTA, MAKING WAVES, and MERCURY TEA, and the novel, BEN’S EXIT. He lives in Huntington Beach, California, with his partner, Robert Peters, and is currently working on a second and revised edition of ALPHABET SOUP: A LEXICON FOR WORD LOVERS. Barbara Hauk is a graduate of the University of California, Irvine, and co-editor of the literary magazine, PEARL. She has published over a hundred poems, as well as essays and interviews, in the small press, and is the author of CONFETTI, a previous volume of poetry. She lives with her husband Peter in Huntington Beach, California.
