About this Item

A fine presentation copy ( inscribed for M. Firuski) Maurice by the publishers, with presentation book plate pasted to front paste down. Maurice Firuski was a well known man of letterers and an authority on Herman Melville. He opened a store in Salisbury Conn. which he specialized in rare, hard to find antiquarian books. He ran the store for 48 years until his death in 1978. His close friends included Archibald McLeish, Steven Vincent Benet, Robert Frost to name a few. There is a slight fading to spine, else fine by this important avant-gard author, who became a fixture in the avant-gard world of early 20th century Paris. First edition, stated.
