About this title

“Thirst-quenching,” “luminous,” “enchanting”: Here are poems to ravish old souls, feed hungry minds, and seduce the pickiest fan of fine writing. Award-winning journalist and author Diana McLellan and New Yorker artist Peter Steiner merge wits and wisdom to create a unique book of her verse, his illustration -- poems of love, of wonder, of loss, of growing old. Raves one critic, “Essential! As in, gets to the essence of things.”

About the Author:

Journalist, columnist, critic, author and editor DIANA MCLELLAN has worked for the Washington Star, Washington Post, Washington Times, and Washingtonian Magazine, and written for the London Times, the London Telegraph, the Mail on Sunday, and others. She earned a Pulitzer nomination, a Penney-Missouri Award, and a Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild Front Page Award for humor. Diana is the author of Ear On Washington and The Girls: Sappho Goes to Hollywood. PETER STEINER left a college teaching career to become an artist. About 400 of his cartoons have appeared in The New Yorker over 25 years, including "On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog," the most reproduced cartoon in that magazine's history. Galleries have shown his paintings in New York, Washington, Richmond, Atlanta, and elsewhere. He is the author of Le Crime, L'Assassin, The Terrorist, and The Resistance (forthcoming Summer 2012).
