George Ignatieff's colourful recollections in this memoir offer a rare glimpse into the workings of international relations, of policy-making at the highest levels, and of people whose decisions affect the stability of the world.
About the Author:George Ignatieff (1913-1989) was diplomat, serving as Canadian ambassador in the Department of External Affairs 1966-69 and president of the Security Council 1968-69. He was also ambassador to Yugoslavia 1956-58 and permanent representative to NATO 1963-66. After retirement he spoke eloquently on behalf of disarmament causes, and he was named disarmament ambassador by Prime Minister John Turner. He was provost of Trinity College, University of Toronto 1972-79 and chancellor of University of Toronto 1980-86. In 1986 he was Brockington lecturer, Queen's University. His memoirs, The Making of a Peacemonger, were first published in 1985.
