Fine in dust jacket with a 1" chip to the head of the spine and very shallow wear foot of spine. Autobiography of prize fighter and decorated Guadalcanal veteran Barney Ross. He was born in New York but grew up in Chicago, where he was the Chicago Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. A particular hero to the Jewish community, as aprofessional Ross went on to win a rare boxing triple division crown--lightweight, light welterweight and welterweight--in the early 1930s. He retired from professional boxing in his early 30s and joined the Marines and earned the Silver Star for his actions on Guadalcanal. Ross died in 1967. Bookseller Inventory #
