The author's first book. Rare. Freedman 1. R. G. Vliet grew up in Texas and received numerous awards for his dramatic works written between 1957 and 1962. His The Regions of Noon was named play of the year by the Southwestern Theatre Conference in 1961. From 1957 until his death in 1984, Vliet wrote and published three books of poetry, one book-legnth poem sequence, and three novels. Twice, in 1966 and 1970, his poetry was honored by the Texas Institute of Letters. His novel, Solitudes, earned the Texas Institute of Letters Fiction award in 1977. In 1983, Vliet was the Dobie-Paisano Resident in Fiction at the University of Texas. His last novel, Scorpio Rising, was published posthumously in 1985. Bookseller Inventory # 35153
