Original binding as published in London in 1859. In remarkable state of preservation this rare imprint published nearly 150 years ago is 432 pages in length and is in excellent very fine condition with the original binding as issued. Extremely crisp and tight. Also remarkable is that this seminal work is free of all foxing and the pages area nearly as bright as the day it was printed. The provenance on this museum piece is also quite important having resided in the personal collection the famous Polynesian anthropologist and author Dr. Donald Stanley Marshall of Peabody Museum fame and carries his bookplate. Maori is a language of New Zealand. Bookseller Inventory #
