Original 1/2 leather and black cloth with leather label in poor condition. Cloth deteriorated or gone in places, boards detached. Title page, index map and 26 uncolored sheet maps in good to very good condition with damage to many sheets at fore and bottom edges, well outside the borders of the maps. Most of the maps have pencil notations which point to locations, with dates, along the river. Some have distances or depths as well while others bear the word "dredging" with a place and date. Shows detail up to one to two miles on either side of the river. Printed by the American Photo-Lithography Co. of New York (Osborne's Process). OCLC 36983239 (5 loc.).
