Rubbing, evidence of minor moisture damage on bottom of front cover and first few pages. 188 pages with appendices and index. 65 plates, complete. The Peabody Academy of Science was established in 1868 with a donation from famous entrepreneur and philanthropist George Peabody. It adopted the collection of the East India Marine Society, established in 1799, and composed of people who had navigated the Cape of Good Hope or Cape Horn.
