In 1877, Como Bluff in Wyoming yielded the first major discovery of dinosaur bones found anywhere in the world. Over the preceding multiple decades, this area produced many of the dinosaur skeletons that today are found in museums around the world. In the 1880s Othniel Marsh, at a cost of $45,000 commissioned the drawing of many fine lithographic plates of the dinosaur bones. When Marsh died in 1899, these fine plates had never been published. This volume publishes these plates for the first time and provides and overview of Como Bluff and the many discoveries made there. It's publication in 1966 marked the centenary of the founding of the Peabody Museum at Yale University where many of these discoveries are still housed. No ownership marks. The cloth binding is a bit water stained, there are marginal water marks to the top edge of the first 20 pages, the endpapers shown some discoloration along the top edge, the dust jacket is complete with a few marginal watermarks to the rear panel; overall, a tight copy in good condition.
