532p. 100 engravings including map of author's journey. Author was a lawyer who traveled West with friends fought off Apache raid, discusses there viciousness, they give Mangus Colorado a lot of whiskey and he tells them stories of the Apaches which normally were not for the ears of the white man. Account of a vicious torture and sacrifice of a poor Mexican girl in a ritual they told him to "purify them for the spirits", he becomes a district judge in Arizona before returning to the east where he wrote this account. A early reprint by an unrecorded publisher (not in OCLC). . A good copy in original green decorative cloth with Indian and Spear on Spine, and front cover of a cowboy crouching firing with his six gun.
