Available From More sellersView all copies of this book
Boston, 1848. 8vo, half morocco over marbled paper, 528 pp. The first volume of this important quarterly, including its first four issues. The scarce collected edition, with continuous pagination. Not in OCLC in this format. An important publication, edited by Ralph Waldo Emerson, Theodore Parker, and J. Elliot Cabot. With abolitionist contents, and articles on a range of other subjects including The Mexican War, Swedenborg, John Quincy Adams, etc. J.R. Lowell's review of Thoreau's A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers would appear in a later volume, not collected here. A bright and well preserved copy, very good minus with some marginalia to a section of pages in an article on the Legal Basis of Slavery (we have chosen to leave it, though it is erasable, in case it is of interest). Contents bright, binding strong. Please contact us for additional pictures or information. Bookseller Inventory # 15074
