Pages 171-174. Resolves LX-LXX (8 1/2 x 12 1/2 inch) printed on both sides. [see Evans - SHORT TITLE, for examples of how "Resolves" were printed as individual pages and runs of pages]. these resolves of the Massachusetts General Court (State Legislature) show the nature of issues taken up by the General Court during the last part of the American War of Independence (1775-1882). Issues are both domestic and war related. One resolve is "for limiting the stock to be kept on . the Elizabeth Islands." Another awards funds to the Thomas Pier for the care of his son who has been "wounded and scalped by the Indians.". Resolves that are war related include one that recomputes the value of the SLOOP TOWNSEND which was sold into government service for the war, but which was paid for with devalued currency. Another resolve grants funds to the John Austin for his work as "Keeper of the powderhouse of Charlestown." Fine clean copy. Bookseller Inventory # 12456
