First edition in English, 12mo, pp. x, [2], 57, [1]; photogravure frontispiece and 3 other gravures mounted to text pages; original paper-covered boards batik printed with black zigzag design, printed paper label on spine, and a spare tipped in at back; the spine a bit toned, else very good. Written while Toller (1893-1936), a left-wing activist and player in the Bavarian revolution, was imprisoned for high treason. The illustrations show scenes from the 1921 Volksbuhne production.
