Introduces Italian painters, German painters, Spanish, Flemish, Belgian, English, French, and American painters, with brief biographies of each artist and a reproduction of one or two of his/her prototypical work(s). All of the reproductions seem to have come from one source, as all utilize the same printing method (lithographs), and are similarly sized. Includes an "appendix" chart, listing more than 100 painters, their years of birth and death, country of birth, school (Hudson River, Naturalist, Impressionist, etc.), whether they painted portraits or figures or landscapes (or any combination of the three), the title of at least on of at least one representative painting, and where it can be seen.
