Synopsis: "A Matter of Time" is a high-action drama and a gripping story of one man's journey through his own personal hell as he struggles to find his way through the underworld of drug smuggling and, later, through the federal prison system faced with the prospect of doing twenty-five years. A true story of the indomitable human spirit overcoming apparently hopeless odds, "A Matter of Time" will excite you, intrigue you, warm your heart and inspire you, as the author takes you on a journey of discovery of the human shadow that keeps prisoners on both sides of the walls.
About the Author: Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Don was raised with four sisters by a career U.S. Army officer and his wife. Graduating from high school in Greeley, Colorado in 1965, he attended Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, where he studied Business Administration and Pre-Law. Joining the U.S. Army in 1969, Don graduated from the U.S. Army Helicopter Flight School in Savannah, GA, and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam as a combat helicopter pilot. Most of Don's adult career has been involved in sales, marketing and small business development. He has owned his own restaurant, provided essential marketing effort in the successful launching and/or expansion of numerous successful businesses in Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico, and has worked for twenty five years as an freelance writer and marketing consultant. Early in the year 2000, he completed and published his first major book, "A Matter of Time," which he expects to promote and develop as a major motion picture. Convicted in 1981 for his involvement with a marijuana smuggling operation in New Mexico, Don earned unprecedented commendations from his work in prison with other inmates, and won the support of such notable authorities as the late U.S. Senator Barry S. Goldwater, U.S. Senator John McCain, and numerous other leaders in state and federal legislatures and Departments of Corrections and Justice. His first-hand experiences with inmates of all ages in federal prison inspired Don to address the desperate need for a support system for inmates upon release from prison. Within six months of his own release from federal prison in April of 1988, Don founded The Society for Return to Honor as an Arizona nonprofit corporation to facilitate the reentry of former criminal offenders back into society. Don has has written extensively on the subject of prison reform and human redemption, has published numerous letters, essays and short stories, and is currently self-publishing a book for writers and artists on the subject of turning creative passions into business. He has two grown sons and a teenage daughter, and currently lives with his Life Partner, Nancy Sweet, in Sedona, Arizona.
