About the Author:

Richard Kriehn was born in Houston, Texas. He started playing mandolin at the age of ten. That same year, he was introduced to the violin through the public school string program. After high school. He attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, to study classical violin. During his sophomore year, he entered and won first place in the Buck White International Mandolin Contest (1985).

Richard moved to Boise, Idaho in 1991 where he met his wife Danette. While there, he attended Boise State University, played with the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra, taught string class in the Nampa School District and played bluegrass on the weekends. In 1996, he and his family moved to Nashville, where he landed a job playing fiddle and mandolin for platinum recording artist Aaron Tippon. He is currently a member of the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble and on tour with Warren Reprise recording artist Michael Peterson.
