About this Item

Jared Sparks was a major historian of the American Revolution and a biographer of Washington. The frontispiece is an etching of Sparks, and there is a title-page vignette repeated on the front wrapper that is a striking wood engraving of the arms of Maryland. 8vo. Frontis., 36 pp. Sabin 47098. Good. Original printed wrappers, rear wrapper lacking, front wrapper detached with browning and very shallow chipping along the edges. Pages creased with very light wear. Pencil and ink marginalia on front wrapper, verso (i.e., unprinted side) of frontispiece and on title-page.
