Two volume set in full leather. In French. Translated from the English and with considerable additions. Melvil was friend and minister of Mary Queen of Scots. His memoirs had been published in France fifty years previously, but not with the additional material that appears in this edition. Volume 1. xxvj;334pp. Volume 2. 336pp.including `table des matieres`. Pannelled spines decorated with gilt and with gilt lettering on red spine labels. Some wear to extremities. Spine of volume 2 has a two inch split down the side but is not loose. Speckled edges. Marbled endpapers. Size: Small Octavo. Seller Inventory # 35713
