477pp/595pp. Leather 2 Volume Set, with both covers detached in Vol. I, front cover detached in Vol. II. Each volume Dark blue with 1/4" decorative gilt around perimeters of each cover, enclosed within linear elements, with same decorative elements repeated on board ends, overlapping onto inside perimeters of each cover for 1/8"; marbled endpapers, with same marbling on all edges; corners rubbed; 4 raised bands on each spine, three gilt designs on spines, but otherwise poor condition. Text block clean and with sharp corners, but frontispiece surrounded by foxing speckles, with corresponding foxing on title page; rectangular shadow or transfer from frontispiece onto title page, with foxing around it, not on shadow rectangle itself; spine very tight, as if never opened.
