Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan served Louis XIV as captain of the Musketeers of the Guard and died at the Siege of Maastricht in the Franco-Dutch war. Despite his achievements he is best remembered through this highly fictionalized memoir and the subsequent works based on it. Page front edges rough cut and cut unevenly. Page lower edges cut unevenly. Illustrated frontispiece - protected by tissue. Title page lettering in red and black. With introduction and preface. Xvi plus 508 pages.
