About this Item

From a theological library with library blindstamps to the title page and some other pages. Bound in nineteenth century 3/4 brown leather with marbled boards and endpapers. All four covers are present but are detached. The gilt decorated spines are edge chipped with some chipping loss to the interior parts of the spines. The spines are in five compartments, with one compartment gilt stamped "Memoirs / Of / Hollis", another stamped "London / 1780"/ and the second volume having the same wording except for "Appendix / 1780"/. Volume one has 2 later endpapers, with both frontpapers and both endpapers having pencil notations.The first 8 leaves are detached. Pagination: Volume I: vii, 506, with some pencil notations in the margins. The pages are generally very clean with some foxing. Volume II is titled:"Appendix To The Memoirs of Thomas Hollis etc.". This volume also has 2 later frontpapers and 2 later endpapers. Pagination: 507 - 839, (1), 23 pages Index. The pages are very clean, crisp, and are tightly bound. The books measure about 13-1/4 inches by 11 inches (about 335mm by 285mm) and are each about 1-1/2 inches thick. Many illustrated plates.
