169 pages. 'Mammoth Forest' is a name given to an area of forested foothills and mountains that drain into the two northern branches of the Tule River of Tulare County, California. The story is divided into three parts: beginnings from 1856-1883; period of private enterprise; public forest management from 1905-1950. Illustrated with black-and-white photographs. First edition, first printing. Signed by the author on title page and dated 2-4-64. Possibly a signed and numbered edition: '54' is written below the date in the same ink as the signature.
