"The Menehunes" are the "little people" of the Hawaiian islands according to Hawaiian lore. Similar to trolls and leperachauns of other parts of the world, said to have all once come from a distant planet traveling on shooting stars. Said to have started the growth of beautiful plants and doing other good deeds for the people of Hawaii, including alerting the people to the coming of dangerous storms.
