Black cloth over boards, 216 pages, Sources, Select Bibliography, Notes on Contributors, illustrated in color and black-and-white. Front cover is bowed slightly at fore-edge, slight separation near gutter between pages 150 and 151 where a ten page fold-out glossy stiff card pamphlet titled: Mervyn Peake: Bleak House was stuck by the previous owner. Peake's drawings to illustrate the Dickens classic with quoted passages from the novel are showcased in the pamplet which was published by an unspecified gallery. About the Author:

Mervyn Peake was the author of The Glassblowers, Gormenghast, The Rhyme of the Flying Bomb, Shapes and Sounds, Titus Alone, and Titus Groan. He was awarded the W. H. Heinemann Foundation Prize by the Royal Society of Literature in 1950. G. Peter Winnington is the founder of Peake Studies, devoted to the work of Mervyn Peake and known as the leading authority on the writer and artist.
