State of the Union for 1836, commencing with the final such address from Andrew Jackson and including reports from the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of War, the Surgeon General, the Superintendent of Public Works, the Commissioner of Indian Affairs, et al. The documents are illustrated with two folding maps depicting pier work at Lake Ontario, and two folding maps of the Rock River rapids and the Des Moines rapids of the Mississippi River. The documents include extensive correspondence between John Forsyth, U.S. Secretary of State, and Manuel Eduardo de Gorostiza, Mexican minister to the U.S., on Texas matters ? primarily the Mexican distress over General Gaines's dispatch to a disputed area.
