About this Item

11.5" x 9.5". Pictorial paper covered boards with black lettering; minor edge wear and gift inscription on title page; else a near fine copy. Illustrated with color and black and white photos. Wood, for the Michelangeli family in Orvieto, is an art has been handed down from father to son for at least four generations. The standard bearer is Gualverio Michelangeli. While completing his regular studies, he was also learning the family craft from the ground up. After which, he looked for new horizons in interior design. His articulation of space which couples inspiration with discipline has left its mark on numerous interiors, both public and private. In the mid-sixties, he discovered the delight of playing with wood and, one after the other, animals, puppets, dolls, mythological scenes, angels, snakes, paradises and great wooden horses, began to emerge from his workshop. He has exhibited in Berne, Paris, Brussels, Locarno, Milan, Cologne, and Tokyo. In 1982 he won the international Delvaux Prize in Brussels. Bookseller Inventory # 6972
