About this title

"Mind Bungee Jumping went through several titles before I settled on this one. The title seems to fit what I was trying to accomplish by writing this book. I am told that when you are bungee jumping you are filled with anxiety, exhilaration, you get a rush and your adrenalin starts pumping. It feels as if you are jumping into the unknown, yet you are attached to reality. The rope or material that keeps you from falling, also springs you back to reality and ensures that your feet will eventually touch the ground. However, the feeling of weightlessness, flying though the air, having no worries and seeing the world from high above are the same feelings I get from writing. Material included in this book sends the message that your imagination is the one thing of beauty that you can make individually yours and you can touch the rainbow.

About the Author:

Barbara A. Robinson was born in rural Alabama. She grew up in an abusive household where she was abused by her mother, who was an alcoholic, and sexually molested by her step father. Almost weekly Barbara witnessed her step father violently beat her mother, using her as a punching bag. During one of those beatings he stabbed Barbara's mother with an icepick and while she watched in horror, her mother's blood squirted on her. Barbara spent the early part of her childhood being afraid to go to sleep at night, being teased by her schoolmates because of her mother's public drunkenness and because at times she had to wear shoes with holes in them. But even during those horrible times, Barbara had a dream of one day being somebody. She was determined that she would finish school and go to college. It was her dream of earning a college degree and getting a good job and buying a home. During her early life, Barbara was an avid reader. When she was in the seventh grade she won a contest for reading the most books in a month. Barbara was also the editor of her school paper and wrote a column called "The Editor Speaks." She wrote another column of poems and jokes called "Smile Awhile." She wrote her first play when she was in the eighth grade. Barbara said she could travel anywhere in the world through reading and writing. She started writing to escape an unhappy childhood and to live in a world she could create for herself through her own imagination. "When I was a child and a young adult, I wrote to heal my emotional pains. Now that I am a person who has realized most of her dreams, I write for the pleasure of writing," says Barbara. Starting a business from the laundry room in the basement of her home, now twenty-one years later her thriving enterprise employs over 150 people. "If you can dream it and work hard, your dreams can be achieved. The dictionary is the only place I know where success comes before work," says this Renaissance woman.
