About this title

Synopsis:

Children's picture book. Ages 4-8.

Minnie's family doesn't approve of her. That's because they are all stuffed shirts - literally! And Minnie herself is a dress. She decides to have a tea party. Her prim and proper family maintains a stiff composure as Minnie's wacky pets have their own tea party underfoot. The jumble of disorder threatens at every turn. Will anyone mention the messy living room?

This book ingeniously combines photographs of vintage clothing and illustrations to create a uniquely imaginative view of a child's world.

About the Author:

Jill Wright, author: Jill's two previous books are "The Old Woman and the Willy Nilly Man, winner of the Helen Laemme Award and "The Old Woman and the Jar of Uumms", Honor List California Children's Book & Video Awards - both published by Putnam. She has also created award-winning CD-ROMs for Time-Warner and Digital Pictures. For seven years she worked in Apple Computer's celebrated learning research project, "Vivarium", where she and children ages 5 to 11 made stories out of household objects, pixels, photos, original video and thin air. Her primary focus is the awakening of the creative imagination as it applies to children, oral traditions and the visual media.

Simon David, illustrator: Simon was born in London, England and is an accomplished artist and musician. His art training has been both formal and informal and has included such teachers as illustrator, Ann Lambase and painter, Tim Ebner at the Pasadena College of Art & Design. He has won many awards for his work including the Priscilla Davis Art Award. Minnie's Tea Party is his first children's book. Simon is currently a college student at St. John's Santa Fe, NM.
