About the Author:

Evelyn Fort Stewart was born in Shulerville, South Carolina the twelfth child of twelve children, on the twelfth of January in 1927. At the age of thirteen Evelyn was sent away to toil in a cigar factory in Charleston.

At sixteen, she met and was tricked into a loveless marriage during World War II by a man seven years her senior. This is Evelyn’s true life, blood-curdling, compelling story.
