Original publisher's 3/4 leather binding with gilt lettering and raised heads with impressed decorations on spine. 1st American edition. 6 X 9 1/2 inches. 732 pages. Front joint professionally repaired. Decorated edges. Copy has 24 black and white plates, 19 black and white illustrations and 3 fold out maps. All maps and plates are fully intact. Livingstone (1813-1873) was a Scottish pioneer medical missionary and an explorer of Africa. This copy is his account of his time there. A previous owner, George B.
