Eudora Welty (1909- 2001) won the 1973 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her novel "The Optimist's Daughter" and Beth Henley won the 1981 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for her play "Crimes of the Heart." Barry Hannah won the William Faulkner Prize for his debut novel "Geronimo Rex." Elizabeth Spencer is a five-time winner of the O. Henry Award for her short fiction.
