About this Item

Publisher's cloth; interior excellent. From the library of Arnold Thackray with his bookplate. Second edition. According to the preface, "this volume, nominally a second edition, is really a new book. The great changes in our knowledge of radiation . . . have made it necessary to treat entirely afresh those portions of the first edition which now form Part II." The author acknowledges his debt to the theories and experiments of Barkla, Bragg, Planck, and Einstein in composing the second edition of this work. Campbell (1880-1949) was an English physicist who also wrote extensively about the philosophy of science. He worked with the Nobelist J.J. Thompson at the Cavendish Laboratory, and later became a prominent researcher at General Electric. Bookseller Inventory # 14819
