About this title

Molly scrambles to various stores in order to complete the shopping for her calico cat, while the cat bustles about at home, creating a surprise for Molly

From School Library Journal:

PreSchool-- Molly and her cat star in this bland little description of eight separate shopping trips. Molly ventures forth to buy milk, which the cat knocks over; catnip, which causes the cat to do somersaults; tulips, which the cat pulls out of the vase and breaks; etc. The final dollhouse-type cutaway illustration shows how each room of the house was messed up as the cat played with the items that Molly purchased. The cat is shown either curled up sweetly or in action destroying the purchased items. Puss is content, the house is a shambles, and Molly is oblivious to all but the curled up cat. The slender storyline and the flat, stylized illustrations limit the appeal of this title. --Carole B. Kirkpatrick, Terminal Park Elementary School, Auburn, Wash.
