About this Item

A seventh edition of this study of the poetry of John Donne. By J. B. Leishman, late senior lecturer in English Literature in the University of Oxford. The Monarch of Wit is a book rich in learning that is controlled by a remarkably acute judgement and a robust Johnsonian sense combined with a subtlety and sensitiveness which are not at all Johnsonian. . . certainly one of the most and important achievements of modern English criticism. Condition: In a black cloth binding with red lettering to the spine, in an unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart, lightly rubbed in places. Dustwrapper is sound with slight rubbing. There is discolouration to the spine and slight wear to the extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean. Overall: VERY GOOD in a VERY GOOD dustwrapper.
