About this title

Porn freak and jetsetter, John Self, is the shameless heir to a fast-food culture where money beats out an invitation to futile self-gratification. Out in New York, mingling with the mighty, Self is embroiled in the corruption, the brutality and the obscenity of the money conspiracy.

Absolutely one of the funniest, smartest, meanest books I know. John Self, the Rabelaisian narrator of the novel, is an advertising man and director of TV commercials who lurches through London and Manhattan, eating, drinking, drugging and smoking too much, buying too much sex, and caring for little else besides getting the big movie deal that will make him lots of money. Hey, it was the '80s. Most importantly, however, Amis in Money musters more sheer entertainment power in any single sentence than most writers are lucky to produce in a career.

Store Description

Member of Antiquarian Booksellers Association (International)- 100 years of professional bookselling - buy with confidence. Established in 1964, K Books specialises in the sale of rare, antiquarian and out of print books on a variety of subjects, including early printing (especially Aldines & Elzevirs), literature, history, natural history, classics (Greek & Roman), fine bindings, private press books, travel, Central Asian exploration, Africa, freemasonry, Spanish Civil War, French Foreign Legion, books about books, bibliography and modern designer bindings ¿ which can also be customised. In addition to our books, we list over 10,000 portraits, mainly 19th Century engravings, of eminent personages and lesser-known individuals. We also carry a large stock of prints - views of castles, towns, animals, birds, and antique maps. We issue occasional Catalogues which contain an interesting pot-pourri of the above subjects. Our business has always been internationally orientated, and we regularly supply books to over 100 countries, and thereby have accumulated valuable experience both in accurate and reliable descriptions, and careful packing of the books. The books listed on-line represent a tiny proportion of our choice and fascinating stock.
