The Monon was a unique and colorful Indiana railroad that was run with the same intensity and professionalism that one would find on a much larger system. While it was big enough to have a varied diesel fleet and financially strong enough to have modern equipment and high-speed, signal protected main lines, the Monon remained accessible and understandable. The Monon had friendly employees, interesting equipment, and just enough trains to make its operations interesting and fun to experience. Includes locomotive roster data. Contents: The Monon on the Chicago & Western Indiana, pp. 7-18; State Line Tower to Shops Yard, pp. 19-41; Shops Yard to McDoel, pp. 42-49; McDoel to Youngstown Yard, pp. 50-76; Monon to Indianapolis, pp. 77-86; Michigan City to Monon and the French Lick Branch, pp. 87-95; The Diesel Fleet, pp. 96-107; The Freight Car Fleet, pp. 108-115; The Passenger Car Fleet, pp. 116-123; Cabooses and Work Equipment, pp. 124-128; Morning Sun Books, hardcover with dust jacket, 128 pages, 8.5 x 11 x .5 in., all Color photographs with captions.
