A FIRST EDITION, 8th printing of this collection of macabre cartoons by the creator of the Addams Family, most previously published in the "New Yorker,'' but 6 never before seen! In 91 pages, this quarto (8.5" x 11.25") has blue-green cloth over quarter black cloth-covered boards, lettered in silver to spine with white title banner lettered in green across front board. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding strong & straight, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning, unmarked save for old gift inscription to ffep. Mild corner bumping. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $3.95 price intact) is just Good, showing many small chips & a larger (1.25") section missing from heel of spine, 1.75" unclosed tear descending from center of top back edge; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free (removed for photos). Blue boards with gold lettering to spine are very good with numerous marks (mainly to front), patchy fading (including to spine), minor pushing/bumping to corners, the odd small bump/rub to edges and a little wear (pushing/rubbing/bumping) to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pages are a bit tanned. Neat gift inscription and date in pen to front end-paper. Occasional small mark/spot of foxing to pages. No other faults.
