In a clear protective Brodart mylar cover. Laurie King retuns with a sequel and Mary Russell's second adventure after the fabulous "Beekeeper's Apprentice". Under the tutelage of the older Sherlock Holmes, Mary goes inside a cult to discover the truth behind the charismatic leader of the New Temple of God, an offshoot of the women's suffrage movement. When a wealthy young woman who is a member dies, Mary starts to investigate and discovers more than she expected. Another highly entertaining novel from a talented writer. A light bump to head of spine. Bookseller Inventory # 1002367

About this title:

Synopsis:

Becoming bored with family life, Mary Russell follows Sherlock Holmes to London, where she meets a former Oxford classmate and becomes involved in a mystery that places her in a collaboration with Holmes. By the author of The Beekeeper's Apprentice. Tour.

Review: In The Beekeeper's Apprentice, Laurie R. King came up with a completely original story that had Sherlock Holmes as one of its principal characters but was in no way part of the Holmes canon. The focus of that book was a young woman, Mary Russell. Now in A Monstrous Regiment of Women, Mary Russell's adventures as a student of the famous detective continue. A series of murders claims members of a strange suffrage organization's wealthy young female volunteers, and Mary, with Holmes in the background, investigates, little knowing what danger she personally faces.

Laurie R. King is also the author of the Edgar Award-winning novel A Grave Talent.
