About this Item

First American Edition (so stated), signed on the title page by Munro. 8vo: [10],233,[1]pp. Publisher's putty-colored paper-covered boards, off-white cloth spine lettered in copper gilt, upper cover titled in blind, fore-edge untrimmed, illustrated dust jacket priced $12.95. As New and Unread in a Fine jacket lightly soiled to bottom of back panel. The first and final entries in this collection of 12 stories were drawn from Who Do You Think You Are? (1978), which Munro removed from the earlier book at the last moment. "Moons features more complex narratives and wider time-frames than Munro's previous work, as well as more characters. There are also fewer first-person narrators and, as the title indicates, there is a greater geographical expansiveness than before: the collection includes stories set in Australia and New Brunswick. The title story deals fictionally with the death of Munro's father, who died in 1976 after a heart operation." (Literary Encyclopedia) Munro won a Man Booker International Prize for her lifetime body of work in 2009, thrice received Canada's Governor General's Award for Fiction (a prize for which The Moons of Jupiter was nominated in 1982), and was awarded the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature as a "master of the contemporary short story." N. B. With few exceptions (always identified), we only stock books in exceptional condition, with dust jackets carefully preserved in archival, removable polypropylene sleeves. All orders are packaged with care and posted promptly. Satisfaction guaranteed. Bookseller Inventory # BB1307
