About this Item

A Protestant attack on that notion of mental reservation in Catholic moral theology which allows equivocation to avoid giving information to persons not entitled to it, in particular one who would use it for nefarious ends. This pamphlet was the first in a published controversy between the author, Frederick Meyrick (1827?1906), a priest of the Church of England and fellow at Trinity College, Oxford, and the future cardinal and archbishop of Westminster, H. E. Manning (1808?1892). 8vo. 63, [1 (blank)] pp. NSTC 2M26359. Removed from a nonce volume. Lightly age-toned; a little shallow chipping and light spotting. Bookseller Inventory # 10677
