6 obon volumes, about 70 double leaves per volumes, a total of 320 illustrations (including 147 double-page and 173 full page, with several maps and plans), original yellow wrappers, title labels, modern Japanese box. Japanese text, started by Kenkado Kimura (who died during the work) illustrated by Okada Gyokuzan (Gyokuzan Tomohisa Okada, 1737-1812), Oka Yugaku (Bunki Oka, 1762-1833) and Ohara Toya (Minsei Ohara, 1771-1840). Tome I (ôchi): Center of the Forbidden City (plans of the Palace, portraits, buildings, scenes of Court). Tome II (kôjo): building until the first city wall, military materials. Tome III (naijo): until the second city wall, costumes, musical instruments, Verbiest observatory, ceremony and procession objects, banners. Tome IV (gaijo): until the last high city wall, Temple of Heaven, gardens, palaces, landscapes. The two last volumes are devoted to the territories dependant on the Emperor, Zhi Li (provinces of Hebei, Tianjin, Beijing) Shuntian, Yongping, Bao Ding, Ajian (tome V), Tian jin, Shunde, Damin, Zhengdin, Guangping and Xianhua (tome VI).
